3. प्रीञ् प्री ञ् तर्पणे 10 चुरादि 228 566 –
There are three धातु-s having similar forms in their roots and similar in meaning – to please or to be pleased:
The third, in the 10th conjugaion, takes three different forms optionally but in meaning alike: to please (somebody) transitive whereas the 1st is active voice – is intransitive; be pleased, love etc. प्रीतिः:is a general term used in the sense of love. but it is intransitive. There is no equvivalent of to love somebody – as in English usage. The word nearest, but not equivalent of english verb – to love will be कामय् – कामयते कन्याम् loves the girl. Literally to like, love etc.
प्रीणयति – प्रीणयते, (similar to the causative of the one in 9th conjugation);
प्रायति – प्रायते or
प्रयति – प्रयते;
according to different opinions by grammarians.
