अद्य प्रातःकाले यदा अहं संस्कृत-समाचारं श्रोतुं http://www.newsonair.com/index_regional.htm जालपत्रे अगच्छं तदा अजानं तत्र समाचारस्य अन्वयः (link) नासीत्। तत् दृष्ट्वा अहं अत्यन्तं क्लेशं अन्वभवम्। चिरकालपरं ते समाचारस्य तत्र स्थापनं अकुर्वताम् तथा अधुना निष्कासितवान्। कथं ते पुनः स्थापयिष्यन्ति तत् चिन्तयित्वा अहम् अत्यन्तं क्लेशम् अनुभवामि।भवन्तः सर्वे कृपया पुनः संस्कृत-समाचारः स्थापनाय स्वनिवेदनं प्रेषयन्तु –

    1. अद्य २००९ क्रिस्ताब्देः अगस्तमासस्य प्रथमः दिनः। “लोकमान्य”-तिलकमहाशयानां पुण्यस्मरणस्य दिवसः । “लोकनायक”अणे महाभागैः पन्चाशताब्दपूर्वे तिलकमहाभागानां एकं एकश्लोकी चरितं रचितं आसीत्। सः श्लोकः एवं अस्ति –
      आदौ शिक्षणकार्यमज्ञजनतासेवा ततः स्वीकृता ।
      दास्यान्मोचयितुं स्वदेशममुना संचालितः केसरी ।
      क्षिप्तो बन्दिगृहे मुदा व्यरचयत् गीतारहस्यं सुधीः ।
      स्वाराज्यं सहजं जगर्ज तिलकः सर्वात्मना स्मर्यताम् ॥
      यदा मया एषः श्लोकः पठितः, तदा मम पितामहेन मह्यं एतावदेव श्लोकद्वयं ज्ञापितम् । एकस्मिन् श्लोके श्रीरामचरितं तथा द्वितीये श्लोके भागवतपुराणस्य सारः अवगुंठितोSस्ति । ते श्लोकौ एवं स्तः –

      आदौ रामतपोवनादिगमनं हत्वा मृगः कांचनम् ।
      वैदेहीहरणं जटायुमरणं सुग्रीवसंभाषणम् ।
      वालीनिर्दलहननं समुद्रतरणं लंकापुरीदाहनम्
      पश्चाद्रावणकुंभकर्णहननं एतद्धि रामायणम् ।।

      आदौ देवकिदेवगर्भजननं गोपीगृहे वर्धनम् ।
      मायापूतनजीवितापहरणं गोवर्धनोद्धारणम् ।
      कंसच्छेदनकौरवादिहननं कुन्तीसुतःपालनम् ।
      एतद्भागवतं पुराणकथितं श्रीकृष्णलीलामृतम् ॥

      अणेमहाभागानां काव्यप्रतिभा अपि गर्हणीया एव, यत् तैः रचितस्य तिलकचरितस्य रचना अस्य श्लोकद्वयस्य सार्धं साधर्म्यं दर्शयति ।

      1. Let me explain the post in English.
        Today it is 1st August 2009. This is the day of respectful remembrance of Lokmanya Tilak. “Loknayak” aNe had composed a shloka summarising the biography of Tilak, as follows –
        aadou shikshaNa-kaaryam-ajnya-janataa-sevaa tatah sveekrutaa ! meaning, “First he undertook the mission of education to serve the interest of the uninitiated.”

        daasyaan-mochayitum svadesham-amunaa sanchaalitah Kesaree, meaning “He then undertook the publication of a newspaper “Kesari” to free the country of the bondage of an alien ruler.

        kshipto bandi-gruhe mudaa vyarachayat geetaa-rahasyam sudheeh meaning, “When put into jail, he happily engaged his brilliance in composing his commentary “Geetaa-rahasya”

        swaaraajyam sahajam jagarja Tilakah sarvaatmanaa smaryataam meaning ” “freedom is one’s birthright” declared (Lokamaanya) Tilak. He deserves to be remembered by everyone.

        When I read aloud this shloka, some fifty years back, my grandfather mentioned to me two similar shlokas, one summarising just in four lines the essence of biography of Shri Ram and the other summarising Bhaagawat MahaapuraaNa. Those two shlokas are –

        aadou Raama-tapovanaadi-gamanam, hatvaa mrugah kaanchanam meaning “First Raama accepted to go to the jungles, then due to killing of the golden deer –”

        Vaidehee-haraNam Jataay-maraNam Sugreeva-sambhaaShaNam meaning “happened abduction of Seetaa, killing of Jataayu (by RaavaNa) and then the meeting with Sugreeva

        Vaalee-nirdala-hananam samudra-taraNam Lankaapuree-daahanam meaning “(then happened) vanquishing of Vaalee, crossing the sea and burning of the City of Lankaa”

        pashchaat-RaavaNa-KumbhakarNa-hananam etaddhi RaamaayaNam meaning, “(then happened) vanquishing of RaavaNa and KumbhakarNa. This is what RaamaayaNa is”

        The second shloka is –

        aadou Devaki-deva-garbha-jananam Gopee-gruhe vardhanam meaning “First (happened) birth as son of Devakee and then growing up in the house of Gopee (Yashodaa)”

        Maayaa-Pootana-Jeevi-taapa-haraNam GovardhanoddhaaraNam meaning, (Then) removed the challenges to very life from demonesses such as Maayaa and Pootanaa. (Then) lifting of the mountain Govardhan

        Kansa-chchedan Kouravaadihananam Kunti-sutah-paalanam meaning “(Then) slashing of Kansa and giving death to Kauravaas and their kin. (Then) guarding of son of Kunti (i.e. guarding Arjuna)

        etad-Bhaagawatam puraaNa-kathita Shree-Krishna-leelaamrutam meaing, “This is what the biography of Krishnaa
        is.

        One should not fail to appreciate the poetic genius of Lokanaayak aNe for having composed a four-liner biography of Tilak-ji, in the same style and meter as of these famous shlokaas.

    अद्यतन समाचारः न प्राप्तमत्रः। कृपया अन्वयः (link)वदतु।

    1. May I suggest a correction ?
      अद्य is adverb. But अद्यतन is adjective. Since in your sentence it is adjective of समाचारः it should be अद्यतन:
      Also प्राप्तमत्रः is Sandhi of प्राप्तम् + अत्रः Here अत्र is an adverb. It cannot have a declension as अत्रः
      Now, प्राप्तम् is an adjective. In your sentence प्राप्तम् is adjective of समाचारः Then it has to be प्राप्त:

      In कृपया अन्वयः (link)वदतु, the word अन्वयः is object of the verb वदतु It has to be in accusative dwiteeyaa vibhakti.
      So, it should be अन्वयम् वदतु

      I notice that you are संस्कृत भारत्याः कार्यकर्ता Here again the words संस्कृत भारत्याः have to be written together. It is a compound word – samaasika shabda. If the word संस्कृत is written separately, as you have done, it becomes faulty by grammar, rather it is devoid of any grammar at all.

      I know that Sanskrit Bharati is doing passionate and dedicated work to spread Sanskrit. The idea seems to be to make Sanskrit a language of common speech. I am not much convinced of that. I have noticed that people make too many mistakes. Isn’t there a mistake in every sentence of your so short a message ?

      To my mind, faulty Sanskrit is not Sanskrit. Sanskrit means refined. It is refined with some rules of grammar, so that there will be no mistakes. If one has to tolerate mistakes, then why do that with Sanskrit ? You have all the vernacular languages, which tolerate all accents and variations. Even American English is different from British English. Even Shakesperean English is much different from modern English. And in India we have Hinglish ! That may be okay with English. I do not think it should be so with Sanskrit.

      I would like interest to learn Sanskrit to start from interest to learn verses, verse-by-verse. Sanskrit is fortunately so much full of so many good verses. More verses one would have learnt, more Sanskrit one has learnt !

      Making Sanskrit a language of common speech can wait, should wait, Otherwise Sanskrit will also become uncultured, unrefined language, like all other spoken languages. Spreading Sanskrit full of mistakes, wanting to be tolerant to mistakes is only over-enthusiasm for spreading Sanskrit. Such over-enthusiasm will only become affront to the intelligence and magnificence of Paninee’s work. I don’t think Sanskrit Bharati also wants that to happen, but seems to be happening on a large scale, (because of work of Sanskrit Bharati ?) !

    भवान् सम्यग् लिखति। मम मतिः अस्ति यद् वाक्देवीं जागराणाय वदनं लाभकारी अस्ति। वदनस्य स्थाने शास्त्रेषु पठनम् अपि कर्तुं शक्यते। तस्मात् मम मतिः अस्ति ये संस्कृतं शिक्षितुम् इच्छन्ति ते शास्त्रेषु उच्चस्वरेण श्लोकान् पठेयुः।
