I could not frame some of the rules and also could not locate proper examples for some of the rules. Please help!!

Lessons 61, 61abc and 63 give in lucid detail all Rules of Sandhi with examples. No need any more to work up the rules.
But I don’t think आर्ष becomes the proper example of sandhi अ+ॠ
For explaining the rule the example must bring out what अ+ॠ become when they combine as a Sandhi. In your example अ+ॠ यथा आर्ष, one will be left wondering where does ष come from?
You seem to be suggesting अ + ॠ = आर् यथा अ + ॠष = आर्ष.
I don’t think this is correct. To my mind आर्ष is an adjective derived from ऋषी. In ऋषी the vowel ऋ is short and not the long ॠ I looked ino Apte’s dictionary to check whether there is any word starting with the long ॠ. Two words are mentioned both of single syllable ॠ. One is an indeclinable i.e. अव्यय Another is a verbal root navam gaNa parasmaipadI (9 P). One may have to devise examples for the Sandhi rule for अ + ॠ from these words.
अ + ऊ = ओ – यथा (१) मम + ऊरू = ममोरू ।
अ + ऋ = अर् यथा (१) देव + ऋषी = देवर्षी । (२) राज + ऋषी = राजर्षी
It cannot be ऋषी unless it is a compound and द्विवचन.
It could be देवर्षिः in the singular also for गुण sandhi.

I am not able to appreciate the existence of द्विवचनं in Samskritam. I feel the language wouldn’t be any less richer without it. Could anyone throw some light on the need and why/how it came into existence in Samskritam ?
अनेकानि वस्तूनि युगले सन्ति। यथा पति-पत्नी श्वेत-श्यामौ रामलक्षमणौ रात्री-दिवसौ नारी-पुरुषौ हस्तौ पादौ नेत्त्रौ कर्णौ सुखदुखे लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ शितोष्णौ प्रकृतिपुरुषौ।
इदं मया श्रीअरविन्दाश्रमेन प्रकाशितायां पत्रिकायाम् अपठम् । अन्याः पण्डिताः कृपया अस्मान् ज्ञापयन्तु।

एकवचन द्विवचन बहुवचन exactly facilitate these distinctions!!
एकवचन = एकस्य वचनम् । MONO-logue
द्विवचन = द्वयोः वचनम् । DIA-logue
बहुवचन = बहुतः वा बहुभ्यः वा बहूनां वा वचनम् । speech to many or Speaking by many
I think the word वचन is the crux of the issue. Since वचन i.e. talk or speech happens in three different modes, there are three वचनानि.
Sometimes we find mention of अनेकवचन. But अनेकवचन can be of two types – द्विवचन or बहुवचन.
So, singular and plural would have simple equivalents in एकवचन and अनेकवचन.
But एकवचन द्विवचन बहुवचन helps bring out all distinctions very clearly.
If someone be reporting “They were saying….”, the listener would become curious to know “how many were ‘they’? Instead if the reporter would use द्विवचन or बहुवचन appropriately, the report is clear by itself.
By the philosophy of ISO-9000 also, they say, “Do it right the first time”. By एकवचन द्विवचन बहुवचन the report is clear, “right, the first time”. How thoughtful Sanskrit grammarians have been, from time immemorial!!!
That is the beauty of Sanskrit. Everything is of eternal, ever-lasting value!!!

Thanks for your replies. So essentially you are saying that there are many things in the nature that exist as pairs (eg: हस्तौ पादौ) and द्विवचनं helps to distinguish the duality in the subject (Eg: तौ नगरं गतौ) very clearly.
I can see the usefulness of द्विवचनं in the 1st case (हस्तौ पादौ).
But in the 2nd case (तौ नगरं गतौ), I don’t see द्विवचनं really adding to the clarity. Generally you don’t start by saying “They went to City”, but will always have the subject specified earlier before referencing them by pronoun (They, तौ). So usually one would ask, “Where are Rama and Soma ?”, to which the reply would follow like “They went to city” (तौ नगरं गतौ). So here the use of द्विवचनं is redundant I would assume.
I still feel there must be a better explanation to the existence of द्विवचनं in Samskritam.

I think there is some grammatical mistake in the sentence – अद्य नन्दकिशोरवर्येण फीनिक्सनगरतः मां दूरभाषेण सम्पर्कम् अकरोत्। If subject of the verb अकरोत् is नन्दकिशोरवर्यः then the subject should be in first case. Here the word is नन्दकिशोरवर्येण which is in third case.
I think, संयोजयति। in

Another error in the title itself. The word “saMlaapa” is masculine. So, the title should read नन्दकिशोरवर्येण सह संलापः ।
Also in the sentence, तेन सह वार्तालापं कृत्वा आनन्दम् अभवत्। the subject “aananda” is again masculine. So, the sentence should have been
तेन सह वार्तालापं कृत्वा आनन्दः अभवत्।
The word “aananda” as neuter noun has totally different meaning such as “house”.
Before posting these comments, I checked up into Apte’s Sanskrit dictionary available online. I would strongly recommend that all of us must cultivate the habit of checking the dictionary before doing the postings.
